Good Stuff

Abby came home from school with this: (sorry, it was a little too big for my scanner)

It's so funny to me how much of a nose she doesn't have, especially considering the genetic nasal potential that could be hers from both sides of the family.

This is just too good, it says:

"If I were the presedent I'd make shere the children were safe, and I whould want a pool a soccerfeeld and that whuold proble be all."

Apparently her teacher mentioned that the White House has a bowling alley and all kinds of other extravagances. Abby felt that a pool and a soccer field would cover her basic needs and I LOVE that she would make sure the children were safe, that makes me tear up.

The kids saw part of one of the Star Wars episodes and since then Nate has been putting his little hand up saying, "I'm forcing you! I have the Yoda force!" So funny.

My new favorite Bennyism is on those rare but wonderful occasions when he doesn't throw a tantrum when I tell him "no" and instead puts his head down and in his best disappointed voice says, "Ahhhwww!"

The other day Anna said to me, "Mom, do you know who has me completely stumped?" When I asked "who?" She then named a family and then explained that the Dad is such a good guy but some of the kids are really "rude and sometimes inappropriate." I was really taken off guard by the fact she said, "stumped" and that she had noticed this. She's getting old.

Perhaps my favorite quote of the week though belongs to Brennan. When frustrated with the kids for spilling their water twice in one sitting he said, "You guys, I could put 4 champeezes at the table and they wouldn't spill nearly as often as you do!" That caught my attention and when I asked him what a champeez was he got a little sheepish and just grinned as I laughed harder than I have in a very long time. The kids just stared at us. I have been laughing all week about it and he just grins and shakes his head. I love that he has NO ego about that kind of thing and will either laugh at himself or good-naturedly stand by while I do and then tell everyone and publish it on our blog. By the way, he meant Chimpanzee.

Abby has a beautiful profile. I love her dreams and aspirations.

You are pretty darn lucky Brennan didn't call the police like Obama's Superdelegate's neighbor did when she called the neighbors kids "monkeys" because they were crawling around in a tree like them. Obama dumped her.....What a touchy world we live in now. I called my kids litte monkeys and even Matthew because he is a climber, but then again, I'm not a superdelegate. Love to hear about the kids. ha ha

What's not so funny about this entry is that Dave and I have the "champeez" situation occur extremely frequently in our home and I am Brennan. I am always throwing out words that aren't quite right because I don't have the time to figure out what I am saying before I say it and therefore say it incorrectly. Dave never misses a beat and always catches me! I've only ever caught him once. It's so embarrasing and frustrating, but yes, funny! Besides the kids knew what Brennan meant, right? So who cares and we all got a good laugh so I say it's worth the incorrect words!
