Catching Up

So much to write about and so little time.  We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend.  It was great to have so many days to be lazy and mellow.  Thursday we went to my parents with my brother, Christian, his wife, Rebecca, and their two kids, and my nephew, David (is from TN but is attending college here).  The food was fabulous – I should have taken a picture.    Mom and Dad took the kids out to play in the leaves which they loved.  Christian, Rebecca, David, Brennan and Eliza and I played Wits and Wagers.  Such a fun game!  Soon Ryan and Macy and their kids, and Davis and Melissa joined us.  We had pie and mellow conversation.  The lightweights then went to bed (and sweet Brennan took our kids home to bed) so we hardcores could play more Wits and Wagers.  I even won once!!!!  We wrapped up at a very reasonable midnight.

I decided the night was still young, or technically morning, so I headed to Target and Walmart to see if I could get any deals.  I found a few things I wanted at Target and waited in line for about 3 minutes before I decided it wasn’t worth the wait.  Walmart was sold out of everything I wanted there so I went home and crawled into bed by about 1.  The next morning I found everything I needed for the same price online.  What a waste!  Oh well.

Joshy smuggled the swedish fish downstairs and he and Amelia couldn’t have been happier in their little fort.

This is my darling newest nephew, Eli Ryan.  Isn’t he DARLING?  A highlight of the day was holding him while he was wide awake.

On Friday we hung out at my parents’ some more and the kids played games.  We all met up later that day for a big movie outing.  We saw and LOVED the Muppet movie.  The k  ids all loved it and so did the grown-ups.

After the movie, my Mom fed us all AGAIN!  Then we headed out to an extended family gathering with my Mom’s side of the family.  My one uncle who lives out of state was in town with all of his kids.  They did a talent show and icecream sundaes.  It was great!  Except I left my brand new camera and cell phone there.  Fortunately my cousin, Steph and her husband found it.  When we got it back it had a few extra photos of them on it.  Cracked me up.

Saturday the kids played with friends and I shopped til I dropped.  Brennan was happy with football games galore.  What a happy, Thanksgiving weekend.  We have everything to be grateful for!

Home Beans and Cown Nuts

The other day as the kids were walking home from school, Ben kept running ahead of the group.  Taking her job as oldest and therefore boss seriously, Abby, kept calling him back.  He was wearing a blue shirt so she said playfully, “Come back here, you little Smurf!”  He turned around and said indignantly, “I’m a home bean child!”.  We’re pretty sure he meant, “human being”.

On one of our many road trips down South, we discovered Joshy’s undying love for Corn Nuts.  I know, gross; however, they keep him occupied and happy for long stretches of road so we’ve made our peace with giving our 2 year old Corn Nuts.  He calls them “cown nuts”.   Last night Anna was rocking Josh before putting him to bed.  She sang him a song and then asked him to sing to her.  He started singing an original song that went something like this:  “I lub Daddy, I lub Mommy, I lub cown nuts.”  I’m just so glad I got listed before cown nuts.
