Brennan took Ben to a putting green the other day. Ben set his ball in front of the hole then leaned down on his putter and crouched down to stare at his ball for a few seconds. Could it be that there's a little too much golf on our tv?
The other night we were playing "Name That Tune" and Nate stunned us all with is abilities. He honestly guessed correctly every time and beat the rest of us all but a a few times. My favorite though was when Abby hummed, "I'm an Extraordinary Machine" he knew it, but had trouble with the title. "Oh, it's extra mominareeeeeey machine." We love Nate.
Me: My old purse was just really old and I just didn't like it anymore.
Abby: Yeah, and it wasn't very organized either. You should have gotten the Buxton Organizer.
Me: The what?
Abby: The Buxton Organizer. It has a really nice comfortable strap that you wear sort of like a seat belt. It has pockets for everything and you can be totally organized. You'll never miss a call again, it has a special pocket for your cell phone. You really should get one, Mom.
Me, laughing: Well, that does sound nice, Abby, but I don't love the look of them.
Abby: Oh, but it comes in red or black or other colors too. You have to be 18 or older to order, but you're older than 18.

Very funny, but also a little unnerving to know how much she is capable of absorbing from tv. (I promise my kids do not watch very much tv.) I've been walking around the house practicing conducting music. One night Abby said, "So you know how Dad is always practicing his golf swing, are you going to be always practicing leading music now?" What weird parents Abby has. We love Abigail.
As we drove home today from my Uncle's home who lives in kind of a more rural area Anna announced, "I think I have a wild country heart." Then she went on to tell us how much she would love to live on a farm and have a horse. When I reminded her how much work it would entail she said, "Yeah, but I think I would enjoy chores if I had more of them." "Uh, I can arrange more for you, Anna." "Well, I mean more farm chores."
Lastly, I managed to kind of capture one of Anna's goals from her soccer game on Saturday. I say kind of because when I got too excited I forgot to hold the camera up. The sound is annoying because it was really windy and there are some really loud and obnoxious soccer moms :) We love Anna.

Wow. The Buxton Organizer? That may be one of my favorite stories of all time. I love the Buxton Organizer.
Buxton Organizer? You have to be 18? Wow- she should be one of those infomercial people. The Anna story is hilarious too.
i love it - i wish i had more chores. maybe you could find some chores around your house that remind her of farm chores.
Such great stories. Isn't it so exciting when they score a goal? I love it.
what on earth is the extraordinary machine song? wow that buxton organizer thing was killing me, she is such a sponge. anna, oh dear that preteen phase is really setting in, a wild country heart, lol!
I so wanted to live on a farm when I was young like Anna. For some reason it just sounded dramatic and fun to do farm chores over regular house chores. I don't know what we were thinking.

1. The buxton organizer story is so so so freaking funny. That right there sums up what is so great and hilarious about Abby.
2. "I promise my kids do not watch very much tv." Did you forget to add "between the hours of 2 and 4am" to the end of that sentence. Like the word "fjklekj," that sentence just didn't make any sense.
3. If I was a farmer, Anna and the 10 yr old Macy are the first two people I would pick to work the place. No drama, just good, tough, reliable labor.
Congrats to Anna! I'm with you on the Buxton. Not the nicest thing to look at, but impressive what a good sales person Abi will one day be!
That is just so freaking funny. I'm getting her one for her birthday.
I just flipped through the classified ads, and all ads for farm labor say, "Must have wild country heart. Experience not necessary."
I love that Nate knows a Fiona Apple song.
LOL Chris-- if you were a farmer you'd hire Anna and 10 yr. old Macy..., and Dave-- classified ads no experience necessary, just "wild country heart"!!! Hilarious.
Fun post, Andrea. You're a great writer, but you DO have some of the best material around, right under your roof!
Funny that Abby says so matter-of-factly "You have to be over 18, but you're older than 18." So cute!
Christian, #1 & #3 very funny. #2 is the reason you're just going to have to deal with your new distracted Dad stereotype.
Yay! A soccer daughter. What more could you ask for? What will you ever do if she doesn't act and sing, but plays hard core sports instead? LOL!!
I have to laugh out loud when reading your well written blogs. Tell me, is there "ever" a dull moment at your house. When it comes to the Buxton Organizer, I identify with the person dumping the contents on the car seat. Ha Ha I am sure I would have gotten the same response from Abby, who is so fashion forward.
Way to go Anna!!!! Soccer is a great sport. Go softly on those screaming soccer moms, Andrea. I use to be one. Benny is definitely a "mini-Brennan" when it come to golf. I am sure Benny did very well at the "lighthouse". I give Nate a great deal of credit for winning the Name That Tune game. I couldn't name any of the top hits today. Sorry, but it's the generation gap.
