Saturday my brother, Davis, flew in from New York and he and all of us who live around here went miniature golfing. I haven't done that for a very long time and I couldn't believe how much fun I had. Ben was totally into it, each time we'd move to the next hole he'd go place his ball by the hold and put it in over and over and over again. It was so cute to see his focus and kind of amazing golfing skills. Anna, Abby & Nate loved every minute too and all did really well. It was a really fun family activity. After our golfing fun we went to Mom and Dad's for dinner and some intense basketball standard assembling. It took 5 men, a suburban and a minivan and a LOT of time, but they did it. We also celebrated my nephew Abraham's 2nd birthday! Happy Birthday Abey!

Sunday right after church we met up with my Mom's family at the cemetery. It was a beautiful night and it was really bitter sweet to see the relatively new graves of my two grandpas. Anna convinced herself and Abby that it was really gross and scary to walk through the cemetery on top of bodies. Sigh. Other than that, it was really nice. After the cemetery we went to my aunt's house for dinner and as usual had a good times with our cousins, aunts and uncles.

Apparently my post all about Memorial Day jinxed it and we got rained out. :( However, don't think a little rain is going to make us cancel our beloved holiday festivities, we just didn't get to go to the park. Instead we congregated at my aunt's church for a yummy breakfast only to find out another family had it reserved for lunch so we then moved to another church gym. We adults played LOTS of great volleyball while the kids had all kinds of fun chasing each other. We then had some great burgers and hot dogs for a late lunch and then soccer and dodge ball with everybody.
Kids up to no good in the hall.
Around 6:00 we left the church. I kissed my little family goodbye and sent them home while I joined several of my aunts and cousin for a 4 hour movie version of Jane Eyre. One of my all-time favorite books that I had yet to see a movie do justice -- UNTIL, last night. Wow, so good! My wonderful aunt, Melanie, discovered this movie and got us organized to watch it last night. After the movie she did a drawing to see who got to keep the movie. I won!!!! I think soon I'll be having a little Jane Eyre party of my own. If that doesn't excite you, you're not invited.
We, like you if you're actually still reading, are pretty exhausted and Ben isn't feeling well, but it was worth it. We loved every minute!

Your family has such fun traditions. What a great weekend.
Fun times. I was so sad to miss out on the four hour Jane Eyre. I will ha ve to borrow it.
okay look at that first picture and tell me you can't hear abe saying in a middle-eastern accent, "what is filthy aryan doing next to me?" lol. wow great recap, I'm super sad about missing the jane eyre party, we for sure have to recreate it.
You live life to the fullest, Ange. You feel it, you love it, you are in the middle of it, and you get the best of it.
I don't think Abby and Lucy should be allowed to play together anymore.
Sounds so fun! Wow- 4 hours of Jane Eyre... What was that "birthday treat" of Abe's?? It looks like chocolate-covered yellow corn.
Great summary of a great day. That picture of Rex and Nate is so cute.
I'm so glad your Memorial Day worked out! I was thinking about you when the weather was so gloomy. And how funny, I just got a copy of Jane Eyre in the mail this morning. Can you believe I've never ready it?
Ange, I love your sardonic, yet loving humor: "some intense basketball standard assembling. It took 5 men, a suburban and a minivan and a LOT of time, but they did it." LOL!
Wonderful recap of a great weekend. I'm sorry Benny got worn out (me too!), but it sure was fun!
Oh, and BTW, hilarious caption E, to the Abe and Ben picture, and LOL Reba, about the chocolate covered yellow corn!
Shauna, sounds like you guys had some fun yourselves!
Macy, Lize you girls seriously missed out, but we'll definitely recreate it and you can borrow it anytime. And Lize, you totally nailed Abe's expression and the difference of those two's looks.
Dad, I feel so blessed to have such great fun families to enjoy!
Davis, you're a hero for coming, you made it way more of a party. And, I agree that the Abby/Lucy combo is scary, but it's too funny to stop.
Rebecca, haven't you ever had the famous Kix Treats? Lize thought Abe would enjoy that more than cake. It is yummy and definitely better than corn with chocolate, although who knows maybe you're onto something.
Ryan, I too love that Rex/Nate picture. Remind me to tell you what Nate said this weekend about Rex.
Lisa, I'm so excited for you to be reading Jane Eyre, I really need to re-read it. Maybe someone will chose it for bookclub?
Mom, it makes me happy you think I'm funny even though some would say you don't have the highest comic standards. It's good to have a fan even if it's your mom.
Happy Memorial Day! I kept thinking about you when it was raining... but I knew you guys would come up with a good back-up plan to the festivities! Okay, now that school's out we HAVE to get together!!!!
