Nate's Triumph

Thursday was Nate's last day of preschool!! We are so proud of him for all the progress he made this year. You may remember that preschool was a source of very great trauma for him and me. Each time I dropped him off for the first few months he would cry and cry and beg and plead me not to leave him. As soon as I left he would calm right down and by the time I picked him up he was always so excited and happy. Because of that, we stuck it out and little by little he conquered his fear. We talked about David and Goliath and that that nervous feeling he got each time I was going to leave him was his Goliath. He was so brave and cute about reminding himself he could be like David and like David prayed for help. Gradually he totally overcame it. The rest of the year he happily kissed me goodbye each time I dropped him off. So you see the completion of this school year for him is a huge accomplishment and we're so grateful for answers to prayers and proud of Nate. We love Natey!!!!

Nate and his amazing teachers!

Below is a short video clip of a song that they sang at the program. There's a part where he kind of cracks up that I have watched 15,379 times because it's so cute to me.

I agree--that IS a great trimph. And kudos as well to a gentle, inspired Mom who gently but firmly pushed him along through her own tears!

ahhh, such a tender little guy. ConGRADUATIONS Naters. A few more of those and you'll be caught up with your uncle Kook's real education level.

Congratulations, Nate!!! You started out this past year as a little boy and proved yourself to be a big boy in the end. I am so proud of you and your mom for conquering your fears.

I remember going to kindergarden and going through the same thing. My birthday was not until December and I was actually 12 months younger than those born in January that year. I just had a lot of maturing to do that first year and catching up with the older kids. I don't remember the day "that fear" left me; but I'm so glad it did.

Preschool made you stronger and ready for kindergarden. So see, you are way ahead of me!

Ange, what a great success story. Probably pretty hard to imagine when you were first dealing with it. I'm so glad Natey was strong enough to soldier through- and applying the David and Goliath story to him was genius.

Great job Natey!! That is a great story, and I am glad you stuck it out. He did great, and now you can remind him of this for the kindergarten transition and it will be that much easier.
