Summer Days

Yesterday it was Nate's turn for the fever that Anna and Ben had last week, so we had another mellow home bound day around here. Anna, Abby and Nate were all in their pajamas all day long. They watched a lot more tv than they're usually allowed and played princess, dog and maid. Anna was the maid with a British accent wearing the pioneer dress and apron I made for her last year and Abby was the princess who kept spilling things on her gown. Little miss maid asked Nate the dog if he would like something to eat. He barked in response and then said, "Anna, bretend I said I wanted dog food."

They also played a game Anna made up called, "What's your favorite color?" This games consists of the three of them holding hands and running around in a circle chanting, "what's your favorite color?" two times and then each one answering the question in turn. We love Anna, Abby and Nate.

I was cleaning out my laundry/mud room which is the dumping ground for all. It was quite a project especially with Benny awake. As long as I opened the back door he was happy to wander back and forth from me to the back patio and find all the mud available in his journeys. He was even kind enough to bring me a lovely flower, roots and all that he picked for me from my flower bed. We love Benjamin.

Brennan came home and mowed the lawn while the kids all played outside on the freshly mowed grass. They explored the newly finished swimming pool hole and mounds of dirt.

It all took me back to those lazy summer days I loved so much when I was a kid. I hope my kids will have a lot of these days before they have to face adulthood and the responsibilities and stress that follow. And then I hope they will be able to enjoy them all over again with their own kids.

Those girls have sweet, willing Nate in training for something--I'm just not sure what.

Cute post, Ange. It does evoke memories of past carefree days. Long may they last!
