The other night Anna said the prayer to bless our dinner. Lately when she's blessed the food, I've wondered if she was saying, "nurthen" instead of "nourish". When she finished her prayer, I asked her what she had said and sure enough she said, "nurthen." I told her that the correct word was "nourish." She started giggling and said that she used to say, "earthen", but her best friend corrected her and told her it was, "nurthen."
That same best friend was standing there when Anna asked if said friend could come with us to the zoo. The friend piped in and excitedly said, "Yeah, I could help be a chaperere!" I'm not sure what word she was combining with "chaperone", all I know is that I did manage to stifle my laughter until they walked away.
This morning, Abby wanted some toast for breakfast. I showed her where the butter was. It was all melted on the plate and she made a face and said, "Ewww, I don't want that butter." "Abby it's fine, it's just a little melted. Benny and I had it on our toast this morning." Without hesitation, she replied, "Babies and grown-ups like everything." In other words, an endorsement by me and Ben didn't count and wasn't at all persuasive.
Nate got a remote control airplane for his birthday. We went outside this morning to try it out. You're supposed to hold the plane, and then squeeze the control trigger about half-way, then gently throw the plane up. I did it a couple of times to show him, then I held the controller and instructed him to throw the plane up as soon as the propeller started. We did this a couple of times and every time I squeezed the trigger and the propeller started going he about jumped out of his skin and jerked back to see what was about to get him, before remembering the noise was coming from the plane he was holding right next to his ear. It was so cute and so funny.
