A few weeks ago my girls and I joined some of their friends and their sisters and Moms for a fun, quick little get-away. Last year we took a one-nighter to see “The Music Man” a few hours South of here. This year, we ventured a little further South and added a night. We had wonderful accommodations at our friends’ Winter home.
We packed lunches and loaded all our stuff (lots of girls = lots of stuff!) and drove down in 3 vehicles. We stopped for our lunch, happy to have a break from the car.
We arrived around 5 pm and the girls entertained themselves while the Moms headed to the kitchen to help and chat with Megan while she made a fabulous dinner. After eating and cleaning up, we all settled in for a late night of laughing and chatting.
We Moms each got a bed, but the girls sort of squished wherever they could in the family room.
The next day we awoke to rain, rain and more rain. We scratched our plans for a hike and half of us went to the indoor pool while the other half got ready and went shopping. The swimmers met up with us later for a marathon shopping trip. Lots of back to school clothes!
We got back to our house for a late dinner by Misti and me and then we left for the play! Jamie was able to join us and we were so happy to have her. The play was “Aladdin” and it was at one of my very favorite venues. It’s a huge outdoor stage with an amazing natural backdrop of red rocks and lots of sky. They always have amazing special effects. The girls LOVED it and it was so fun to experience it together. Mostly, we were so grateful our prayers were answered and the rain stopped just long enough for the play.
Another late night and more chatting and finally sleep! We woke up and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, loaded up and drove home.
It was a great trip. I was so impressed with these girls. There were 10 girls between 8 and 15 and they were so kind and inclusive and fun. We didn’t have any drama, which I so appreciate. I love each one of those girls so much and I also love their Moms. What fantastic women. Thanks so much to Brennan for taking such great care of the boys. They went golfing, went to Boondocks, to work with Brennan and lots of fun things. They didn’t miss us at all.
